On Monday, June 15, one of the loons left the nesting area with one of the chicks. A while later, the chick returned alone, having followed a kayak back through the channel that separates the brooding area from the nesting area.

In her own words

My family and I went out on the kayaks fishing in middle pea and while I was fishing the baby chick came over to my kayak and started pecking at it, he also wanted to get in. So we waited around 20 min to see if the parents showed up and nothing, so I started to paddle and the chick kept following so I just decided to take it back to its nest. We took a while to get there because the chick kept getting tired so I had to wait for it but we made it and I paddle toward the mother/father and he/she started calling the chick as soon as he/she saw it and then they where reunited. 😊
