Loon banding provides us with important information about loon life history. To illustrate how much we can learn from banding, LPC has compiled information about some of New Hampshire’s banded loons. Click on the photos below and then scroll down to the caption for information about each featured loon.
Currently, there are close to 200 banded loons in New Hampshire, so the loons profiled on this page are just a subsample of our banded population. Each day in November 2020, a new loon will be added to this page, so be sure to check back frequently!
Special thanks to the many LPC volunteers & photographers who contributed photos to this series: Kally Abrams, Jean Despres, Ellen Edersheim, Jen Esten, Jan Landry, Libby Libbey, Scott Powell, Brian Reilly, Martha Robertson, John Rockwood, and Jon Waage.
