Have you ever wondered what loons are saying with those eerie calls in the night, or why loon chicks ride on their parents’ backs? Join Melanie Carolan of the Loon Preservation Committee and Harris Center ecologist Brett Amy Thelen on July 27th from 4–6 PM to learn the answers to these questions and more! As a small group, we’ll paddle with the Willard Pond loons, learn to interpret their behaviors and vocalizations, and discuss the work being done to help them — and all of New Hampshire’s loons — thrive.
We will be following best practices for ethical wildlife observation, including maintaining a healthy distance from the loons, so bring binoculars for the best viewing experience. In addition, you will need to bring your own canoe or kayak and a PFD for each person in your boat.
Space is limited, and registration is required through the Harris Center. To register, please click here.
