Have you ever wondered why loon chicks ride on their parents’ backs? What loons are saying with those eerie calls in the night? Do they mate for life? What threats do they face? What work is being done to preserve these beautiful, iconic birds in New Hampshire?
Join us for a paddling trip, led by Loon Preservation Committee staff, to learn the answers to all of these questions and more! In a small group setting, we will visit with and learn about the loons on Swains Lake. We will observe and interpret loon behaviors and vocalizations, learn the fascinating history of the loons on the lake, and discuss the management work being done to help them—and all of New Hampshire’s loons—thrive.
This paddle is free of charge. While our guided paddles are open to the general public, in order to maintain a small group setting, each trip will be limited to 10 participants, and RSVP is required. Please email volunteers@loon.org for more information or to register.
